The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Family Adventure

3 hour workshops, full-day and weekend retreats for communities.
And our annual week-long and week-end National Family Bnai Mitzvah Retreat Details

Our programs have been developed, researched and found to be exceptionally effective under a grant from the Nathan Cummings Foundation.

-Heighten the sparkle of motivation and interest in adolescent eyes and transform parents/guardians and other involved family members from stressed task masters into delighted team players.

-Dynamic, experiential and completely respectful of the full-range of Jewish belief and practice.

Affordable, Empowering, Playful, Professionally-Focused Family Learning -  includes a free copy of our family education text book for each family.

Examples of Some of Our Program Component Options (program length directed by local community):

1. BMAP: The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Family Action Plan - Discover how to work with your local community/family to create an experience that will be emotionally satisfying, intellectually expansive, spiritually profound, and grounded in inspiring, relevant, respectful Jewish practice appropriate to all denominations. 1.5-2 hr.

2. D'var (Devar) Torah Olympics: 1.5-2 hr. Yields many meaningful approaches to connecting to Torah in preparation for bar/bat mitzvah divrei Torah/talks/speeches  - from classical methods to bibliodrama (our staff trained by Peter Pitzele),to art, dance, media and sports!

3. Party Hearty and Heimish (heart-centered): Create stand-out parties that touch hearts, arouse ruakh (spirited participation) and connect participants in remarkable ways. Surprisingly derived from the almost lost Jewish traditions of tummler, maggid, badhan, klezmer, henna-artist and more! 2 hr.

4. Your Jewish Name: What's the point? Uncover either the name that's right for you, and/or all sorts of valuable connections to the name you were given, then watch reasons for having a sacred name come to life!

6. Priceless: The relationship between relatives and the bar/bat mitzvah student is precious beyond rubies when cultivated with consciousness, this workshop for parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles and mature siblings shows how to create or select a bar/bat mitzvah present that will be handed down through the generations because you likely already own it, and because it's how it's transmitted that matters most.

5. Give a gift to your congregation in honor of your bar/bat mitzvah, give a Train-the-Trainers session (for educators, clergy & tutors): We'll come out to teach our program principles and methods with option of continuing conference-call supervision and training for local clergy, principals, teachers and tutors.
(1.5 - 2 hrs or more as desired/needed)

Program director, Rabbi Dr. Goldie Milgram, MSW, is a Covenant Award Finalist for Excellence as a Jewish educator and innovator.
